Bijna geen congres of vergadering zonder het gebruik van PowerPoint door één of meerdere sprekers. De overheadsheet dient alleen nog als uiterste back-up en de ‘good old’ diaprojector staat onder dikke lagen stof in de magazijnen van menig technische dienst van AV-bedrijven en accommodaties. Vandaag de dag vertrouwen we allemaal op hét presentatiemiddel bij uitstek – Powerpoint – dat dit jaar precies zijn 20e verjaardag viert!
Maar hoe komt het dan dat we zo vaak geconfronteerd worden met saaie, kinderachtige, overvloedige, veel te lange, onduidelijke en slecht leesbare presentaties? ‘Death By Powerpoint’ is internationaal inmiddels een ingeburgerd begrip voor sprekers wier powerpointpresentaties zo slecht zijn dat je – vaak letterlijk – in slaap valt. Powerpoint als het nieuwe dodelijk (saaie) wapen?
Een goede presentatie maken is een kunst die niet iedereen verstaat. Microsoft heeft het programma zó vol met mogelijkheden gestopt dat we geneigd zijn alles te willen gebruiken en daarmee te laten zien wat we allemaal wel niet weten van en kunnen met Powerpoint. Het zal u echter nooit vergeven worden en de inhoud van uw verhaal zou wel eens geheel weg kunnen vallen en vergeten worden, terwijl het gesprek in de koffiepauze uitsluitend nog over uw powerpoint slides gaat (en dan bedoelen we niet de inhoud ervan).
